These effects are linked to the opposing sides, the Demon and Exorcist respectfully, and as such have a strong contrast in color scheme and mood.

The effects in order are for the following, the effigy (demon's totem) in-game, and the forcefield dome created by the exorcist to the ritual effect. The effects are created through custom materials - a mix of scrolling textures painted in Photoshop, and flipbook materials created via After-Effects, before being compiled into a Niagra emitter.
